Academia Meets Industry: Microsoft
The meeting was attended by Michal Braverman-Blumenstyk, the CEO of Microsoft Research and Development Center in Israel, Dr. Tomer Simon, the Chief Scientist at Microsoft Israel R&D Center, and an alumnus of the Faculty of Engineering at Tel Aviv University.
The event began with a speech by Michal Braverman-Blumenstyk, Microsoft's Corporate Vice President, CEO of Microsoft Israel Research and Development Center, and CTO of Microsoft Security. It was followed by a lecture on innovation and AI by Dr. Tomer Simon, the Chief Scientist at Microsoft Israel R&D Center and an alumnus of the Faculty of Engineering at Tel Aviv University. After the direct meeting with the company’s management, a unique tour at the Microsoft Israel R&D Center was held.
Sigalit Ben Hayoun, Head of the Tel Aviv University Alumni Organization, noted “We in the alumni organization make our best efforts to strengthen the relationship between academia and industry and hold unique forums throughout the year. The meeting at Microsoft with university alumni is an excellent example of this and is designed to generate career opportunities and quality exposure for the university’s alumni community. Our alumni were happy for the opportunity to come and get to know Microsoft’s extensive activity in Israel and to hear from the company’s top management. The event was attended by a member of the advisory Committee of the Tel Aviv University Alumni Organization- Anat Starik-Dahan, Deputy CEO of the Setai, Herbert Samuel, and Orchid hotel groups, who came with her daughter Omer, also an alumna of Tel Aviv University.
