Building Financial Resilience: Tel Aviv University Students Complete Financial Literacy Program
Some moments remind us exactly why we do what we do. The closing event of the Financial Literacy Program at Tel Aviv University, now in its second year, was one of those moments.
Throughout the year, Tel Aviv University students were guided through a personal journey to develop practical tools for effective financial management. Their mentors, all Tel Aviv University alumni, worked alongside professional advisors from Paamonim, an Israeli nonprofit organization specializing in financial education and household financial management.
But it quickly became clear that the program was about much more than numbers, budgets, or managing expenses.
It was about confidence. Resilience. And the ability to make informed financial decisions rather than decisions driven by uncertainty or fear. Above all, it was about knowing that there is a community that believes in you, supports you, and invests in your future — even beyond your years at university.
From Financial Knowledge to Financial Confidence
At the closing event, students openly shared how the mentoring process helped them gain a clearer understanding of their personal finances, organize their financial lives, look differently at their future, and develop practical tools that will serve them for years to come.
It was inspiring to see how a small shift in the way students think about money can lead to a significant change in their sense of control, confidence, and financial security.
The mentors and professional advisors also spoke about the impact of the experience on them. The opportunity to give back, build meaningful personal connections, and watch students grow and develop made the program a rewarding experience for everyone involved.
A Partnership Supporting Student Success
The Financial Literacy Program is the result of a meaningful partnership between the Dean of Students Office at Tel Aviv University, the Tel Aviv University Alumni Organization, and Paamonim.
Together, the three partners bring knowledge, professional experience, personal mentorship, and a genuine commitment to supporting the next generation.
This collaboration reflects a broader understanding of student success: academic achievement does not exist in isolation. Providing students with practical tools for financial resilience and responsible financial management can give them a stronger and more stable foundation on which to build their future.
Inspiration from the Tel Aviv University Alumni Community
The closing event also featured an inspiring talk by Uri Beitler, an alumnus of the Faculty of Engineering at Tel Aviv University, serial entrepreneur, and member of the Advisory Board of the Tel Aviv University Alumni Organization.
Beitler shared insights from his personal and professional experience, offering participants perspectives on entrepreneurship, decision-making, and navigating the challenges and opportunities that come with building a career and a future.
We were also pleased to welcome Prof. Drorit Neuman, Dean of Students; Sigalit Ben Hayoun, Head of the Tel Aviv University Alumni Organization; as well as the partners, mentors, advisors, and guests who joined us to celebrate the conclusion of another meaningful year.

Our mentors do more than help students develop financial literacy skills. Through personal guidance and meaningful connections, they help students build confidence, hope, and a sense of belonging to a community that believes in their potential.
