After that, Dafna Meitar Nechmad said a few words. After her Major General Yifat Tomer Yerushalmi, the Chief Military Prosecutor and an alumna of the Faculty of Law at Tel Aviv University, went up to say a few words.
Amongst her speech the Major General mentioned: “In marking 7 months to the Swords of Iron war, it can be said that this is an unprecedented war on several levels. One of the biggest aspects is it being the most ‘legal’ one we’ve known. The legal issues we are witnessing, such as the request of the ICC prosecutor to issue arrest warrants for the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense, and South Africa's claim against Israel in the ICJ, keep us busy. We, at the military prosecution, have been and will continue to work, independently, to make sure that the IDF is a law keeping army, and that deviations from the law are handled professionally, and without fear. Another big aspect in this war is the role that women play in it, we’ve seen the undeniable contribution women have made as warriors , in the field, in technology, in the intelligence, in medicine and much more. The women of this war have proved us the necessity and impotence of their presence in the army and in the Israeli society. As a member of the General Staff Forum, and as a commander, I am proud of the women’s contribution to the fighting at war ”.
