Prof. Nir Giladi MD, a Chairman of the Neurological Institute in Ichilov, Tel Aviv, Member of the Israeli National Academy of Science in Medicine, gave a lecture on “Research and Academia – Why and How?” and noted that “Integrating research into my work as a physician has significantly improved me as a physician/clinician, greatly enriched my professional and personal life, and brought great satisfaction in contributing to global knowledge. The key to the correct integration of science and medicine is a field of research that corresponds well with the field of specialization and expertise on the one hand, and combining forces with researchers who are not physicians on the other hand. Engaging in research takes a lot of time and significant personal and family-related resources, but in retrospect, it’s worth every minute and every effort or sacrifice I chose to make”.
