National Resilience in Times of Crisis
In honor of the summer and in light of the challenging period that accompanies us, the Tel Aviv University Alumni Organization, led by Sigalit Ben Hayoun, launched a special day of activity that consisted of two parts:
-
A day of recreation at the Tel Aviv University Sports Center – an experience that includes 3 swimming pools, and a sauna with a jacuzzi complex for a special price.
-
A webinar for the university’s alumni on behalf of the organization on the topic of “National Resilience in Times of Crisis”.
The webinar was held with the participation of the alumni:
Dr. Moran Bodas – senior lecturer and an academic advisor from the department of Emergency and Disaster Management, School of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University.
Efrat Shaprut – CEO of NATAL organization, the Israel Trauma and Resiliency Center, an alumna of the Faculty of Law at Tel Aviv University.
Among other things, Dr. Moran Bodas mentioned that “humans are social creatures who strive to live in groups. Indeed, a cohesive community has the ability to cope well in emergencies. In times of crisis, a cohesive community can bend, but not break, and this is precisely the definition of the concept of resilience. Community cohesion is crucial to our ability to deal with our most basic fears and create some peace and tranquility in a stormy sea of emotions”.
Efrat Shaprut noted that:
“Personal and social resilience is linked to four main factors: strong and benevolent leadership, connectedness between people, emergency preparedness and a sense of human meaning. It is important to strengthen these parts to increase our personal and social resilience”.
