In 2022, the Tel Aviv University Alumni Organization launched a series of meetings called “When Academia Meets Industry”, in which alumni who graduated recently were invited to visit leading companies from various fields of activity in the high-tech world and get to know their activities up close.

Towards the end of the year, an event was held at Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., which included a personal meeting with the company’s Founder and CEO, Gil Shwed, Israel Award laureate in the field of technology and innovation and member of the Board of Trustees of Tel Aviv University.

Dozens of young alumni and alumnae filled the auditorium at Check Point and posed questions to Gil Shwed, who answered them at length and with great interest.

In addition, there were fascinating sessions of research with Maya Horowitz, VP of Research at the company and an alumna of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Coller School of Management at Tel Aviv University, and a session with Daniel Elias, talent acquisition and HR manager of Check Point.

Sigalit Ben Hayoun, Head of the Tel Aviv University Alumni Organization, noted the importance of the academy’s connection with industry and the special connection the Tel Aviv University has with Check Point, as well as with its Founder and CEO Gil Shwed. She also thanked Idan Dayan, a software engineer at Check Point and an alumnus of the university’s School of Computer Science, who initiated this meeting, after attending a previous meeting the organization had held.
