“How our money works?”-Family Economy

The Tel Aviv University Alumni, headed by Sigalit Ben Hayoun, works on the next generation and for the first time held a series of unique activities for families: the first meeting was held in partnership with the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange and the Bank of Israel. As part of the collaboration, Tel Aviv University alums and their children were invited to a study tour at the Bank of Israel and the Stock Exchange on “How our money works ?”.

The event speaker, Orna Goren, head of communications and Public Relations at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, gave an in-depth lecture to the alumni and their children and explained new concepts to the curious crowd of families.

At the Bank of Israel, they were welcomed by Adv. Shulamit Geri, Director General at Bank of Israel, an alumna of the Buchmann Faculty of Law at Tel Aviv University: “We were happy to host the Tel Aviv University alumni and their children at the Bank of Israel. In addition to its duties, the Bank of Israel initiates projects in the field of financial education regarding the use of money and proper financial conduct, and the visit to the central bank was a part of this initiative. I’m happy to see the enthusiasm of the children (and their parents) and we’ll be happy to host you again”.

Yaron Malka, the training coordinator at the Bank of Israel visitor center, and an alum of the Buchmann Faculty of Law at Tel Aviv University, gave a broad lecture with a fascinating tour, which created a great deal of involvement on the part of the older and younger participants alike, and an original gift for each: a bag containing shredded 3000 NIS banknotes.

Sigalit Ben Hayoun: “We organized an event to connect the families of the alumni community and we’re happy to take part in the enrichment and education of the next generation, the parents and their children have been together in an enriching financial study. The first event of the series was exquisite and successful, and thanks to the demand, further special activities about family finances and other topics will be held in the future”.
