Prof. Ariel Porat graduated from TAU with a bachelor's degree and a  doctorate, and continued as a research fellow at Yale University until returning to TAU as a faculty member and later also serving as Dean of TAU's Buchman Faculty of Law.

Prof. Porat is a member of the American Law Institute, previously served as president of the Israeli Law and Economics Association, and serves on the Israeli National Academy of Sciences. During his career, he won the E.M.T award for Law Studies (2014), the Zeltner Prize for Law Studies (2012), the Schneor Zalman Cheshin Award for Academic Excellence in Law (2010), and the Sussman Law and Rector's Excellence in Teaching Award.

Prof. Porat replaces TAU's former president Prof. Joseph Klafter, alumnus of the Faculty of Exact Sciences, whose vision was the foundation to establish the TAU Alumni Organization, during a decade of tenure characterized by innovation and entrepreneurship in all areas. The University's Alumni Organization thanks Prof. Klafter for his continuous work for the organization and for the alumni community in Israel and around the world, and is confident of the organization's march toward new horizons under Prof. Porat's presidency.
