An exclusive event for the alumni of the Class of 2020

In an especially experiential and exciting online event, the TAU Alumni Organization marked the joining of approximately 7,000 alumni of the 2020 class to the ever-growing alumni community, a first of its kind among Israeli universities.

21 January 2021

The event was hosted by Actor, Comedian and TV Personality Dvir Bendek, who took pride in the fact that he is an alumnus of the TAU Faculty of the Arts, and a member of the TAU Alumni Organization’s advisory committee.

Sigalit Ben Hayoun, Head of the TAU Alumni Organization, congratulated the alumni and said "As part of TAU Alumni Organization’s 5th anniversary celebrations, and under the circumstances created by the COVID-19 era, we decided to hold this powerful meeting of all 2020 alumni - a great pride for us!".

Ben Hayoun also asked the alumni to "help us shape and nurture the TAU alumni community – A World Changing Community!"

Tel Aviv University President, Prof. Ariel Porat, said in his greetings: "One of the great benefits of belonging to an alumni organization is the social network it creates. Alumni of leading universities in the world attest to the quality of the institution’s alumni’s social network as a critical factor in their original choice which University to study at. TAU’s social network, cultivated by the TAU Alumni Organization, extends across all walks of life and across all continents. By the way, in the coming years, TAU will become even more international, so our global alumni community will be boosted with thousands of new alumni from all over the world. I am certain that such a social network will benefit all of you, and no less important – will bring all of you great pleasure."

After the president's greeting, the event was joined by TAU alumni and power couple Gil and Nili Peretz directly from San Diego, California, who shared "Six Skills for Success in the New World" with the class of 2020.

Gil, Alumnus of TAU’s Coller School of Management, and Nili, Alumna of TAU’s Buchmann Faculty of Law, are both international Israeli lecturers. They both have lectured, separately, at the prestigious TED conferences.

Nili spoke on the power of "Positive Chutzpah” (or audacity) Mindset, yes - there is also positive audacity, a concept that the couple broke through, based on their research of hundreds of the most successful game-changers entrepreneurs.

Gil spoke at the TED conference on how using positive surprises enhances relationships, and he, too, surprised the audience. It turns out that Gil also served as a guest lecturer for a number of years in the MBA program at the Coller School of Management.

Gil and Nili are entrepreneurs and executives of a digital academy in the field of Management and Public Speaking, and co-wrote the best-selling book ‘Obama’s Secrets: How to Speak and Communicate with Power and a Little Magic’, which revealed the secrets of President Obama's speeches.

The Peretz couple taught the captivated audience (some responded with touching compliments in the live chat) what are the six skills: Daring, Non-Stop Learning, Intuition, Personal Choice, Creativity and Togetherness, and noted that “The acronyms of all these words together (in Hebrew) form the word TEL AVIV. We are all alumni of the Tel Aviv University, so take Tel Aviv University with you for life, apply these six skills throughout your career and you will succeed! Good luck to you all!".

The evening then continued with an exclusive and beautiful online musical performance by Musician, Composer & Creator Idan Raichel (unfortunately, we are not allowed to share the video from this part of the event).
